Ensemble is the audition-only choral group of Irving Bible Church. Unlike the IBC Choir which does not require an audition, Ensemble is a smaller group of singers who concentrate on a more challenging repertoire. Whereas the IBC Choir sings music from a variety of musical genres including praise, gospel, classical and spirituals, Ensemble is primarily choral.
Ensemble meets regularly following the IBC Choir rehearsals on Wednesday nights at 8:15 P.M. in the music studio behind the Sanctuary. They perform at different IBC venues during Advent, Christmas and Easter, as well as for other special events at IBC.
The audition involves the following:
- Singing the national anthem (in a comfortable key, choral style)
- A short 8-measure sight-reading piece
- Tonal memory (5 pitches and singer must match)
- Judged on "overall tone" and stage presence
All audtions are low-stress and respectfully judged and are aimed at identifying both your strengths and your weaknesses.
